Michigan Curriculum Framework (MCF) Standards and Benchmarks (from the Michigan Department of Education). Learn more at: michigan.gov/mde.

Oakland Schools/Project SCoPE: SCoPE (Sample Curriculum and Plans for Education) is a model core curriculum that is available to Michigan educators via the SCoPE web site.

From this site, educators will be able to access the following:

A year-by-year curriculum that employs state content standards and lays out specific units of study for each grade level in mathematics, English language arts, science and social studies;

Daily lesson plans complete with classroom activities, suggested methods of assessing how pupils are learning, and homework assignments. The plans will include direct connections to the state content standards as measured by the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP).

From the scope home page, follow the "Later Elementary" link, and select "Third Grade." The "Social Studies" link on this page will take you to a page of abstracts for units that focus on different attributes of region and regional community. Individual lesson plans for these units should be available. For more information about the SCoPE project and partners, visit: michigan.gov/scope

Or visit Oakland Schools at: oakland.k12.mi.us/index.htm

Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD): Macomb County Social Studies Core Curriculum:
The Macomb County Social Studies Core Curriculum was developed as part of the Macomb ISD School Improvement Plan. This countywide effort was designed to develop a curriculum in order to avoid duplication of effort and focus resources on a task that most local districts find it difficult to accomplish independently. This countywide core curriculum complies with the new Michigan Framework for Social Studies Education, but includes more specific and detailed elements, which make it more practical and usable to local administrators and classroom teachers. For more information visit: misd.net.

Michigan Literacy Progress Profile (MLPP): The MLPP is the assessment portion of the Reading Plan for Michigan. Its goal is to have all children reading at grade level by the time they reach the fourth grade. MLPP provides a collection of assessment tools to determine a child's progress in his/her development of written and oral language skills. It is to be used by trained educators to determine and document student growth in the areas of literacy development for the purpose of improving the learning opportunities for students. For information visit: michigan.gov/mde.

Follow the "Curriculum and Standards" link and select "English language Arts" from the "K-12 Curriculum Links." Scroll to the bottom of the page for MMLP information.

The CLiMB Project (MI CliMB): Clarifying the Language in Michigan's Benchmarks: The MI CLiMB Project was conducted by a consortium of Intermediate School Districts in Michigan under the auspices of the Michigan Department of Education using Goals 2000 funds from the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the project is to assist teachers and other interested individuals in understanding the intent of the benchmarks in the Michigan Curriculum Framework.
