In collaboration with our educational partners, Detroit Public Television is proud to offer high-quality, professional development opportunities to administrators, faculty, childcare providers and parents through telecourses, multimedia tool kits including resource guides, and free workshops and training. Birth-To-Five
The Whole Child: A Caregiver's Guide to the First Five Years (TWC)
provides students, parents and professional childcare providers with essential
information about children's physical, emotional and cognitive development
for the first five years. The Whole Child consists of 13 half-hour
video programs and coordinated books in English and Spanish. If you are
involved in training early childhood educators, then you should know that
teachers may watch The Whole Child 13-part professional video series
and engage in supplemental activities to earn their credentials.

Zero-To-Eight
Ready to Learn (RTL)
services prepare children for success in school by providing workshops
for parents, childcare providers, zero-to-eight teachers and other early
childhood professionals. The core of RTL is a full day of award-winning,
non-violent, commercial-free, educational children's television programming,
broadcast free of charge to our viewership. Free books are distributed
to children whose parents, childcare providers and teachers have participated
in an RTL workshop.

The Enrichment Channel
(TEC) is an Emmy award winning, interactive learning system that uses
a multimedia approach to teaching curriculum-based arts, culture, humanities
and science. This curriculum is aligned with the Michigan Curriculum Framework
and the Michigan Literacy Progress Profile for grade levels 2 through
4. The toolkit is complete with teaching instructions, which are included
on the interactive CD-Roms.
Middle Years
The Cultural Collaborative for Learning (CCfL) links local cultural programs
to the Michigan Curriculum Framework and brings thematic, integrated
learning experiences into the classroom for grade levels 5 through 8.
The CCfL Teacher's Guide provides you with a complete, all-in-one resource
to maximize the educational potential of the program in a minimum of
time. A comprehensive array of wrap-around materials has been developed
to support you and your students in making the most of this educational
opportunity.
