Jenny Mendez
Jenny Mendez left Pakistan in 1982 to study at Marquette University. She earned her doctorate in Education Administration and now works at Wayne State University's Institute of Gerontology. Jenny was most surprised to see the informal dress and manners of her peers on campus when she first arrived in the United States. Students in Pakistan wear formal clothes to class and wouldn't be seen putting their feet up on seats. Jenny loves the freedom she has in America. Single women in Pakistan traditionally do not leave home without the accompaniment of family or friends. With all her family living in either Canada or the States, Jenny misses the food most about Pakistan. She hopes to return to Pakistan someday to contribute to the field of aging.
