Wenceslao Luevanos
Wenceslao and Juanita LuevanosBorn: September 28, 1893 in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico
Wenceslao Luevanos married Juanita (baptized as Juana). Juanita was born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico on March 27, 1894.
Wenceslao worked in the coalmines in Mexico, but became tired of working in the coalmines. Wenceslao & Juana came to the United States looking for a living. Their daughter Mary was three years old when they came to the U.S. via train. She remembers the train ride, hearing the chu chu, whistle blowing, coming over the bridge in Laredo, Texas. Wenceslao & Juana settled in Kansas City, Missouri. Juana's brother Eligio was already in Kansas City working in the packinghouse. Eligio got Wenceslao a job at the packinghouse.
Wenceslao began looking for another job. Wenceslao drove a truck with five other guys to Detroit, Michigan - they heard that Ford Motor Company in Dearborn was hiring. The six guys got a map and drove to Dearborn, and all six men were hired within twenty-four hours after arriving in Dearborn.
