Edward Lesko
Edward Lesko arrived in Hamtramck from Poland in 1986 after the economic system collapsed in his homeland. His wife, Liubovi came from Moldova in 1998 and Luba, their nine year old granddaughter followed just a few months ago. Although Edward yearned to move back to Poland during the first couple of years after he arrived, he now feels more American than Polish. He enjoys the freedom the U.S. has to offer. Luba goes to Dickinson Elementary where she enjoys her teacher and newfound friends. She likes playing with her computer and Barbies. Luba missed her family back in Moldova so much that her grandmother set up a collection of clowns from all over the world to help Luba feel happy in her new home.
