Marcos Bonafede
Marcos Bonafede and his family moved to the United States from Argentina after his mother won a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the U.S. She chose to attend Wayne State and now teaches Spanish locally. Eleven year old Marcos was excited for the change at the time, but was also a little frightened about leaving behind loved ones and learning a new language. Marcos is thankful for the friendship of a boy from Spain who helped him make friends and learn the culture. Economic conditions in Argentina have suffered a downfall in recent years and Marcos knows that he would not have such luxuries as his own car, central heating and air, or video games if he still lived there. He misses the family he left behind in Argentina, especially during the holiday seasons, and the food. Marcos plans to attend college next fall to study International Relations.
